Brendan Aubusson

Special Counsel

Brendan is involved in all forms of commercial practice, in particular property and commercial law, property development, banking and finance, business acquisitions and disposals, mergers and acquisitions. Brendan has practised in these areas for over 30 years. He has had extensive experience in acting for a wide range of clients including listed and unlisted public companies, financial institutions and other large commercial organisations as well as small to medium businesses and high net worth individuals.

Brendan completed his law degree at the University of Sydney in 1974. Between 1974 and 1978, Brendan worked as employed solicitor for Church and Grace. In 1978 he was made a partner at the firm, and has practised in this capacity until the merger of Church & Grace and McLachlan Thorpe Partners in November 2023.

Brendan has expertise in the preparation of documents and advice in relation to all aspects of property matters including joint ventures, acquisitions of property by purchase or option, property development and sub divisions, leases, restrictive covenants, easements and cost sharing agreements.

He has expertise in general commercial work including preparation of documents and advising in relation to acquisition of businesses, shareholders agreement, joint venture agreements and other business arrangements. He is skilled in the preparation of and advising on security documents including general security deeds, land mortgages, and other securities. He also has worked in the field of estate administration, both as an executor and trustee and as legal adviser to executors and administrators of estates.
